What Kind of Knitter Are You?

You appear to be a Knitting Adventurer. You are through those knitting growing pains and feeling more adventurous. You can follow a standard pattern if it’s not too complicated and know where to go to get help. Maybe you’ve started to experiment with different fibers and you might be eyeing [...]

V’s fingerless gloves

Published by The Knitternaut under General

I totally made a pattern up.
Ok, not totally, I suppose.  I just went all mitten’s on it’s ass until I’d completed the gusset and separated for the thumb, and knitted in the round for the hand until I was about where the fingers start, and then I kind of … guessed?  I separated the stitched on the [...]

Scope Creep

Published by The Knitternaut under General

Looks like Knitgrrl has declared November National Sweater Knitting Month (NaSweKniMo, more accurately, I think…), a fine answer to NaNoWriMo.
I have long said I would spend this year learning my small accessory projects, and save sweatering for next year’s knitting season. But… but…. I really want to do it now!

Thanks be for Knitting

Published by The Knitternaut under General

Only weeks into its existence, and already the knitblog malingers. For shame, for shame, Knitternaut. My apologies for the absence, dear reader(s). It hasn’t been for lack of knitting, but more due to the busy schedule of Real Life.
Two weekends ago was our Thanksgiving trip away to Port Mc-Nothing-To-Do-But-Knit (aka Port McNeill) to visit friends, [...]

Published by The Knitternaut under General

Finally, the mittens are done! Just in time for a little bit of nippy fair weather.
Yesterday was a day of acquisitions and excitement. I had a bunch of friends meet me after work at our local yarn store, Three Bags Full, and we went through and picked out the yarns they wanted for their various [...]

Very close to warmth

Published by The Knitternaut under General

I hauled my knitting bag around with me yesterday, and lo and behold - another mitten arose. On the bus home in the evening, I finished the body. I just have the thumb to go on the right hand, and they’re all done!
I wish I’d taken the time to finish them up last night, my [...]

ketchup mittens

Published by The Knitternaut under General

The ketchup mittens are a go! I spent most of yesterday daydreaming about knitting, and came home with a burning urgency to get one of my projects done.   I had half of one of the ketchup mittens on the go, about mid-way through the gusset for the thumb. I powered through, and finished the body.
Mr. [...]

Totoro!

Published by The Knitternaut under General

Several months ago, a friend told me she was pregnant. I was absolutely thrilled - she and her partner are some of the first parents-to-be in my circle of friends.   “What better way to inflict my knitting on someone than by giving them baby gifts?” thought I. I asked her if there was anything she [...]
