Scope Creep

Looks like Knitgrrl has declared November National Sweater Knitting Month (NaSweKniMo, more accurately, I think…), a fine answer to NaNoWriMo.
I have long said I would spend this year learning my small accessory projects, and save sweatering for next year’s knitting season. But… but…. I really want to do it now!
Let’s take a look at the updated Project Tally and see where things sit:
- 1 pair wrist warmers, grey and purple-green highlights (Vanessa)
Still to be cast on - I have the wool, but they’ll take me at least three good knitting sessions.
- 1 pair catalina fingerless gloves, colour TBA (Vanessa)
These are in progress, though I am going for a plain knit pattern rather than the cabled catalina pattern. Mid-gusset on Glove 1, Glove 2 is still a daydream. Two ore three knitting sessions, I think.
- 1 Knitternaut Toque, with mathematical hat symbol (Sandy)
Again, just a daydream right now. This would probably take me one or two knitting sessions to get done.
- 2 Mr. Knitternaut Toques, grey felted (Nicole, Kynnin)
- 1 pair bright yellow mittens (on a string, of course) (me!)
The mittens were co-opted by Mr. K, who fell in love with the Mirasol Miski wool and is making me a pair of 3-fingered mittens in Bluebell. Hooray for gifted yarn arts! The toques might actually fall to me to crochet up, and Mr. K will do the felting, which means two knitting sessions there.
- 1 pair fingerless gloves, grey (Nicole - to match her toque)
Ooh, I forgot about these. I have to go find some nice wool to match the raw unspun stuff we have for the toques. Another three or four knitting sessions, plus a shopping trip.
- 1 pair fingerless gloves (Christina)
- 1 pair legwarmers (Christina)
Goddamn, I forgot to measure that girl AGAIN. Huff. These are going to take a fair bit of time to make sure I get them made well - I have to go buy needles for these as well, mine are all the wrong size.
- 1 pair of socks (Joel)
So close to done… one more knitting session should do it!
- 1 pair red alpaca mittens (if I get to them this year….again)
- 1 summer toque (it can probably wait until spring)
Who’m I kidding? The Drops Alpaca mittens fill me with dread. I’m going to frog them and save the wool for something else. The summer toque - I think I can finish that without too much pain.
…. ok, I think I’ve talked myself out of trying to make a sweater in a month. I’ve got too much to do!
